Ben and Jerry's efforts to stop selling their products to Israelis in disputed Palestinian territories is morally and commercially wrong, and the decision will not even work as Ben & Jerry’s products may not be sold in the settlements but will continue to be sold in Israel. Settlement resident Ma’aleh Adumim said "I’ll just buy my New York Chunk Fudge in Jerusalem and smuggle it back home past all the checkpoints” [1]. Likewise this move has seen the company clash with their parent company Unilever, and they may have legal trouble over this issue moving forward, so this may not even come to pass. While Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said it was "morally wrong" and repercussions would make it "financially wrong" [2], Israeli foreign minister Foreign Minister Yair Lapid went further and called it a “shameful surrender to antisemitism, to BDS and to all that is wrong with the anti-Israel and anti-Jewish discourse” [1].
